Kadayawan 2016

Finally, its Kadayawan!

This King of all Philippine Festival is one of the Philippine thanksgiving festivals without Christian roots. It is a celebration which involves the original 11 Lumads of the city and their bountiful harvest every year. It highlights the melting pot of cultures that make Davao a vibrant, booming, interesting region.

There’s the short introduction of the said festival whome I usually got to witness every year.

Now that I’m back for a irregular shift A.K.A 8am-5pm, I’ve had ample time to get to roam around the mall and take some sneaky pics for any interesting. Of course there are lots of things happening especially that the city is in preparation for this year’s Kadayawan Festival. One of that will be the Floral Fusion Contest for any flower arrangement center piece.

As the celebration gets nearer, a lot of activities were prepared not only for entertainment but also to highlight the culture signifcance of the lumads. There was this Tribuhanong Pasundayag or simply a Cultural Show erformed by Kalumon.

Lastly,  a celebration will never be completed without showcasing the foods and flavors of the south. Hence, there was a South By Mouth Kadayawan Grillfest.

Other festival highlights were the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan, Hiyas sa Kadayawan and Pamulak sa Kadalan, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture these events as I had prior engagements. 😦 But I hope you did enjoy!
